Reliable and courteous parking service for visitors to London Gatwick airport.

The New Beano Cafe, 93, High St, Ramsgate, Kent CT11 9RH

I haven't eaten in a "greasy spoon" for a few years, so, having time to kill with one of my sons (but not too much), we decided to stop off for some quick, cheap grub on the High Street in Ramsgate.

The Plough and Horses, Walshes Road, Jarvis Brook, Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 3RE

Prepare to step back in time at the Plough and Horses, where the decoration and the prices are still back in the Eighties. Where the barlady would still love to have a fag dangling from her over-lipsticked mouth and where the bar is for the men and the lounge is for ladies and couples.

Dunya Ice Cream Shop -Kalamar Road (next to Atlantis Restaurant) KALKAN ,Turkey

This was a favourite cake and ice cream stop on the way back from the beach in this lovely part of S.W Turkey. Owned by a Dutch lady and a Turkish guy a spotless terrace covered with big white umbrellas was a real treat for all things sweet and ice creamy,in 35 degrees of late afternoon heat.

Bella Italia - Brighton

Its late morning in the Lanes in Brighton and we need a quick drink and snack. Ah, Bella Italia, “Cooked Breakfast, Pastries & Coffee, available now”, just the ticket and only four other customers.

Harvey Nichols, Victoria Quarter, 107-111 Briggate, Leeds LS1 6AZ

Recessionistas meet fashionistas here! Cheap, homemade lunches and stylish with excellent service.

Foxtrot Oscar, 79 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London SW3 4HN

Today we went to Foxtrot Oscar. It's Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant. It was absolutely marvellous. It cost £112.48 including all wine and service. Very reasonable for high quality London food. And it's in the heart of Chelsea. We had a bit of a to-do about it as well.

Mekong, 241 Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000

The best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne are in the Richmond and Footscray areas. If you are a Londoner, these are nothing like their south London namesakes, by the way.

304 G Street, Anchorage, Alaska

First day in Anchorage, looking for some lunch. After a couple of bad experiences at Rough Guide recommended places, we went with our own judgment. Urban Green stood out from the crowd – in Alaska there’s an unwritten law that all eating places must have names like “Prairie Country Kitchen” “The Lonesome Chicken” or “Auntie Betty’s Real Home Style Moose Burgers”. That word “Urban” went straight to our Islington hearts, so in we went.

The blokes are work are keen for a feed for Friday lunches and this place does not disappoint them. They have been raving about it for a while so today I went along to put the nosebag on. Not many other places can you get a homestyle breakfast any time of the day for £4, with a full plate the size of a small island.

Captain Old Timer and his sidekick The Bunnyman certainly polished it all off. I enjoyed my macaroni cheese, but my chips weren't tasty enough to entice me to overeat. Great milkshakes too! Captain Old Timer is a bit of a regular, on top of the breakfast, he also recommends the burgers and sausage butties. The cake selection was impressive, so we might need a re-visit for coffee and cake.

Went down to the Satay Restaurant in Brixton, Sarf London as they say down there. To be honest I wasn't really looking forward to going down there but I have some friends who live South of the River and felt more obliged than willing. Anyhoo, I can honestly say I really enjoyed myself.

Yes Brixton has it's bad points, but this restaurant (that that had a cocktail bar in it too) was a real welcome surprise to me. First impressions were outside with this big banksy type stencil of a Thai dancer beckoning you in and some flyposting which is actually the menu. Inside the stencil artwork carries on through with this massive sort of montage on the back wall of Asian buildings. Looked quite good I thought.
